Respiratory Management:

All treatment carried out in patient`s home with full PPE protection

Trachy management : Patient with trachyoestomy  are managed in the community by carrying out suctioning for airway clearance. Ventilation management for airway clearance with their existing ventilation setting.

Airway clearance: Respiratory conditions comes with increased sputum production which needs to be cleared . Patient taught how to clear sputum with different physiotherapy modalities .

Breathless Management:

Breathlessness is a part of life for patient having any respiratory conditions. Breathless is a scary feeling for some and has a knock on effect to their confidence to movement with lung conditions. However long standing breathless leads to poor confidence to symptoms management and also to their day to day life. We provide an intense breathless management as part of their symptom management.  These are done in adopting different positions and also performing different activities. By adopting the plan patient slowly regain their self confidence.

Hyperventilation Management:

Some patient with respiratory management quite frequently gets panic due to their breathlessness and as a result they develop abnormal breathing pattern. Patient are re-educated through practical session to breathe normally and regain their confidence in breathing.

Chronic Cough Management:

Cough is also one of the many symptoms of lung conditions which need managing. Cough is a reflex action to remove the foreign particles (Sputum) from the lungs. Patient shown to adopt different positions to reduce the intensity of cough. Patients are taught to do huff instead of cough.


Spirometer is use to measure lung function. This is one of the diagnostic tools used to differentiate different lung conditions. Diagnostic is vital for lung conditions as it leads to correct prescription for the inhaler. This also been carried out in the community as part of the assessment.

Inhaler technique management:

Patient checked on the inspiratory capacity before prescribing the device. Inhaler is the means of providing medication to lungs. Due to inefficient inspiratory flow the inhaler becomes ineffective for the patient as results the symptoms persist. There are more than 93 types of inhalers available but which one will be the best one are reviewed in our assessment.

Pacing technique:

During the breathless management patient educated about breathing technique and applying it in different activities like walking, stair climbing, lifting, overhead activity and exercises.

Oxygen assessment:

Oxygen assessment carried out according to their target saturation. Oxygen assessment carried out for long term oxygen needs which is for oxygen needs at rest and ambulatory oxygen assessment which is the oxygen need while mobile. Patient given education on oxygen assessment.

Pulmonary Rehabilitation:

Evidence based exercise program carried out for patient having any lung conditions after an initial assessment. This is an exercise program divided into 2 parts cardiovascular and strength training for duration of 1 hour twice daily for 6 weeks. Patient who successfully completes the session benefits by able to walk longer and becoming stronger and more confident in living with their lung conditions. Patients are assessed at the beginning to find out their baseline level of their exercise tolerance and a small goal is been set to achieve for every week. An additional education program along with the exercises improves the effectiveness of the programs.
